Summer Safety Reminders

We’re in the middle of summer, it is easy to forget about summer safety. This is a series of posts that will be focused on tips to keep your family safe from sunburns, poison oak, ticks, and bug bites! Mostly everyone should be wearing long, light-colored clothing. But in 100+ degree temps, nobody wants to wear long-sleeved shirts and pants.

Let’s start with Sun Safety.

  • SUNSCREEN! Apply and apply again. I know that the chemicals in sunscreen can be scary but there are a few that have little to no toxins. All of these sunscreens can be found at Target.

California Baby and BabyGanics products are great.

Aveeno Products aren’t as low as BabyGanics or California Baby but they are lower than others and available at most grocery stores and convenience stores so they are a great product to grab when you forget the sunscreen!

  • Try to stay out of the sun during the middle of the day – around 12-2 pm – the sun is very hot and the UV radiation is harsh.
  • Wear hats and sunglasses! Sunglasses provide UV protection which also prevents cataracts.
  • Try to stay in the shade as much as possible.
